Accurate Description of Surface Purity
One of the main factors in
grading a pearl and determining its value is "surface purity".
This is a measure
of how clean the surface is or how much of the pearls surface contains
blemishing. Rather than use vague terms such as 'clean', 'near clean', mostly
clean', at Pearls by Angela Carol we clearly state percentage of the pearls
surface that is unblemished. Each one of our products will be accompanied by a
chart similar to the one show to the left.
Our pearls are graded before they are drilled and strung. We also locate the
drill hole where one of the inclusions are located on the pearl. The care that
we take means that a pearl with a surface purity of AAA (95% Inclusion Free)
will almost always appear to have a perfect surface once it is part of a pearl
necklace, bracelet or a pair of pearl earrings.
